What happens when you hit search
An Instagram story viewer is a web tool that fetches the active stories of a public profile so you can watch them outside the Instagram app. The important part is where the request comes from: our server asks Instagram for the public data, not your device and not any account of yours. The result is the same media the app would show — just delivered to a browser tab instead.
Stories are the one part of Instagram that expires. A post stays on the grid forever, but a story is gone in 24 hours, which is exactly why people reach for a viewer: to catch something before it disappears, or to keep a copy of it.
- 1
Enter the username
Paste or type the handle — with or without the @. Spelling matters, so copy it from the profile page if you're unsure.
- 2
We fetch the live stories
The server pulls the profile and whatever stories are active at that moment. This usually takes a second or two.
- 3
Watch or download
Every story shows as a card you can open full-screen. Videos play with sound, and each item has its own download button.
One search box, the whole story feed
The viewer isn't limited to a single clip. If an account posted eight stories today, all eight load together, in order, so you can flip through them the way you would in the app. Photos come through at full resolution and videos keep their audio. When something is worth keeping, the download saves the original file — not a screen recording.
If staying invisible is the main reason you're here, the anonymous story viewer page explains exactly what the account owner can and can't see. Curious how tools like this compare? Our story viewer guide walks through the whole landscape, and the profile picture viewer covers the other thing people constantly ask for — seeing a profile photo in full size.
Instagram story viewer questions
How does an Instagram story viewer work?
Our server requests the public story data for the username you enter and streams it to your browser. Because the request comes from our server and not from an Instagram account, there is no viewer identity to record.
Do stories really disappear after 24 hours?
On Instagram itself, yes — a story is live for 24 hours unless the owner pins it to a highlight. That's why a story viewer only shows what's currently active. If a search comes back empty, the account simply has nothing live right now.
Can I watch stories from a private account?
No. Private accounts only share stories with approved followers, and no browser tool can get around that. Everything here works on public profiles only.
Does the viewer work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It's a normal web page, so it runs in Safari, Chrome, or any mobile browser. There's no app to install and nothing to update.
Is there a limit on how many stories I can watch?
There's no daily cap. If a lot of people search at the same moment you might see a brief rate-limit message — wait a few seconds and search again.
